Alabama will hold its second annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday to begin Friday, Feb. 22 and end Sunday, February 24.
The Madison County Commission Friday morning unanimously agreed to waive collection of local sales tax to support the state’s efforts for citizens to be prepared for severe weather.
Citizens have the opportunity to purchase certain severe weather preparedness items free of state and local sales tax. These items include batteries, cell phone batteries and chargers, battery powered radios, weather radios, to tarps, plastic sheeting and duct tape, fire extinguishers to smoke and carbon dioxide detectors, gas containers to portable generators and power cords.
