The Madison school board has named the new principal for James Clemens High School. It’s Dr. Brian Clayton.
Clayton will take over for Dr. John Green, who recently accepted the superintendent position of a school district in Georgia.
Clayton is a familiar face in the school system. He has been the principal at Liberty Middle School in Madison.
The school board approved Clayton for the position just before today’s announcement.
James Clemens High School is brand new and will open to students this fall.
Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Dee Fowler knows he has the experience to get the job done.
Dr. Fowler explains, “Dr. Clayton has been a principal at Liberty Middle, before that he had been at Tuscaloosa City and in other western parts of the state, he has been a high school principal before.”
Dr. Brian Clayton says, “It’s an opportunity to me of a lifetime to take a school of that magnitude and lead it.”
The school itself may be new to Clayton and Madison, but opening a school is old hat for the new principal.
Dr Fowler elaborates, “He had the opportunity of opening a new school in Tuscaloosa City, so he’s had that opportunity too. He’s had new school openings. He’s got great academic pedigree. He’s got high school experience. So we’re very excited about him.”
