Legacy Elementary School has been named a 2014 Lighthouse Blue Ribbon School

legacyPrincipal Keith M. Trawick said the school was formally informed of the prestigious designation by a letter from Bart Teal, President of Blue Ribbon Schools.

Legacy elementary School has been named a 2014 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School by the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, Incorporation. The school will be honored and receive the official award in a ceremony during the banquet at the Blue Ribbon Schools Blueprint for Excellence National Conference in Florida in December 2014. The school was notified today in a letter of this accomplishment. “We are greatly honored to recognize such a deserving school working so diligently to fulfill the many learning needs of students,” states Bart Teal, President and CEO of the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, Incorporation.

“The Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Program is a comprehensive school self-assessment experience. This program supports improved student performance and quality school reform. Schools are identified and selected for this award based on achievement of excellent performance in nine major categories of the Blueprint for Excellence. Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Schools serve as a beacon of exemplary achievements and contributions to ensure successful educational experiences for all children by shining a positive light on America’s best schools and programs that work,” said Teal.

Congratulations to Principal Keith Trawick and the Legacy Elementary School Faculty and Staff for such an accomplishment!

“This truly is a huge honor and testament to the dedication of our entire Legacy community,” Trawick said.
Several teachers that will be representing Legacy at an awards ceremony in December.

“Each of these teachers will be participating in one of three concurrent sessions where the best practices of Legacy are highlighted and presented,” Trawick added. “I’m confident each of them will do a tremendous job and will represent us well.”

The following teachers will be attending the 2014 Blue Ribbon Schools Blueprint for Excellence National Conference in Orlando:
Caitlin Morris – Kindergarten
Melissa Boothe – Kindergarten
Shemika Stinnett – 2nd grade
Emily Dodd – 3rd grade
Caroline Wilson – 4th grade
Kristin Kolenich – 4th grade
Janel Ramsden – 5th grade
Shannon Mayer – Special Education

In a letter to parents Trawick said, “Without your support, we would only be half as successful as we are. The partnership between you and your child’s teacher is the key to your child’s success. I’m 100% confident that we have the absolute BEST teachers, custodial staff, cafeteria staff, bus drivers, and support personnel. However, your support allows us and your child to reach our full potential.”
