James Clemens principal outlines search for a new head football coach

The following is a statement from James Clemens principal Dr. Brian Clayton to parents regarding the search for a new head football coach. Coach Clint Woodfin has been named interim head coach.

Dear Jet Family,

By now I guess everyone has heard the news that Coach Bill Stewart has accepted a directorship position at the central office in Jackson County, GA. It’s a career advancement that also allows him to return to familiar territory. We are very excited for him and his family. We wish him well. He has done a great job building the foundation of our athletic program.

The process of hiring a football coach to me starts with identifying the type of person that we are looking for. The football coach position has to relate to many facets of the school including the cheerleading program, band program, ROTC, and the dance line. Additionally, this position is paramount in the community. Most people in Alabama enjoy a Friday night in the fall at a football game.

The process timeline begins with a seven day posting on the Teach in Alabama website. Once that posting concludes, we will peruse the applications and select a pool of applicants. Next, the interview process will begin with the selection of an interview committee and then we will conduct the interviews. We are definitely looking to have someone on board long before spring training which will be conducted in May.

At this time, Coach Clint Woodfin has been selected as Interim Head Coach. We are very excited to have him guide us through the transition time that is before us.

It is always great to be a Jet!!!

Your Principal,

Brian Clayton, Ed. D.
