Horizon making giant strides with new LEAP Youth Leadership Academy this summer

The LEAP Youth Leadership Academy is off and running again for the 2nd consecutive year at Horizon Elementary. There are 32 youth taking part in this year’s two week program.

LEAP stands for Leaders Emerging With Amazing Potential. The program got a boost by generous support from Reach Orthodontics in Madison.

An awesome program for some awesome students, the curriculum is designed to help students believe and act on a set of guiding principles that can motivate them to meet the challenges they face and seek a rewarding life.

“We are excited about the creation of LEAP Academy (leap-academy.org), a new program that will strive to improve the lives of our students and make Madison an even better place to live for all of us,” said John Shriver, at an earlier fundraiser for LEAP.

For a number of years Horizon has been promoting leadership skills for its students. With generous support provided by Reach Orthodontics in Madison, it can now enhance those efforts by targeting students who LEAP organizers feel will most benefit from a special focus on using leadership to boost self-esteem and to effectively work to make a positive and productive environment in their community.

The LEAP Academy logo is a runner sailing over the crest of a hurdle with drive, ambition, form, grace and elegance, all of which result from years of training, coaching, and mentoring. The curriculum of LEAP Academy is designed to help students believe and act on a set of guiding principles that can motivate them to address the challenges they face and achieve a rewarding life.

LEAP Academy is a long-term commitment to its students to help them build a foundation of supporting relationships and give them the best chance for developing a strong belief in themselves, their school, and their community.
