Recent rains are causing some flooding problems in Madison. The national weather service has issued a flood warning until 4:30 p.m. for Southwestern Madison County, including Madison. Heavy rainfall is causing rapid rises on Indian Creek, which runs through Harvest and near Madison. The latest reading at the gauge site in Madison was 7.0 feet. Flood stage is 7.5 feet. With additional rainfall expected today, Indian Creek will begin to cause flooding concerns this afternoon.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Huntsville, Madison, Moores Mill, Meridianville, Redstone Arsenal, Harvest and Triana.
In addition, Madison Public Works has closed part of the north bound lane of Mose Chapel Road due to standing water on the roadway. Mose Chapel is located beside Mill Creek School near County Line Road. It is anticipated the water will not recede overnight. Barricades with lights will be in place.
